Brown China Mark Moth
The larvae of this moth form floating shelters from cut pieces of foliage and eat large holes in the edges of waterlily leaves, often completely skeletonizing the leaf. The moths, about 2.5cm(1in) long, have irrelgular white patches on brownish-orange wings and are usually seen on late-summer evenings. The eggs hatch out beneath the leaf surface into creamy coloured caterpillars that crawl about in their shelters. Remove damaged leaves and in autum net off the shelters to which the overwintering pupar are attached.
