The size and type of mechanical digger required for a job is related to the amount of work to be done - generally a 360-degree tracked excavator, ranging in size from 1 to 32tons, is suitable. Your hire shop will be able to make recommendations when you outline the size of the excavation and your needs for handling material. Precision with levels is important, as replaced subsoil is not as structurally sound as the virgin ground. Keep others well outside the danger areas where you are working.
