Formal Ponds
A geometric design works best if it forms an association in materials and design withthe buildings that are close to it. It may, for example, be rectagular, octagonal or linear in form, and may have a stone or paved edge that allows easy access to the water's edge.
Where possible, any change of level can be exploited with small waterfalls running from higher to the lower pond. Planting is possible in a formal pond, although this is more likely to be a few careful chosen achitectural plants, rather than a large number.
