Gradient

Gradient is a very important factor when deciding where your pond will be. Gentle slopes could be used to your advantage by giving you the opportunity to install water features such as waterfalls and streams that could boost up the look of your pond.

But some areas like the dipples at the bottom of the pond could be frost areas which should be avoided. On a very steep slope it may be sensible to get professional advice, particularly if you are building on a large scale, because there is always the danger of the slope slipping.
