Leafhoppers
These weaken plants in the same way as aphids by sucking sap through leaves and tender young growth. Waterlilies that have become over-grown and whose leaves are growing above the surface are very prone to attack. Use a strong jet of water to wash off the insects and, more importantly, divide waterlilies regularly so that vulnerable growth is not allowed to develop.
