Planting Time
Aquatics should be planted while in growth and not touched during their dormant period. The warmer the water, the more quickly the new plant will become established, and the ideal time is late spring when there is plenty of sunshine, long hours of sunlight and warmer water. If the planting is left until autumn, the water will still be warm, but will be gradually cooling down and the plant may not have time to become established before winter. If the temperature falls sharply and the plants are slightly tender, as are some waterlilies, they will not have had sufficient time to build up reserves in their root systems, If containerized plants are bought, the plantingg time is less important.
