Raised Ponds

This is a formal pond constructed above ground level and contained by brick or stone walls. Its advantage is that it reduces the amount of spoil that needs to be removed from the site; however, this saving is usually absorbed by the exterior walls. As they will be a major feature, they often require finishing materials that can be more expensive than hidden construction materials, where the finish is not important.
