To get the most from your pond it is often best to site it where you can see it from inside your house - perhaps from your bedroom window or the kitchen or recreation areas - so you can enjoy its appearance changing with the time of day as well as the seasons.

Remember that the perceived shape of the pond will be altered by the viewpoint. Alternately, some of the most exciting ponds are sited away from the property and require a walk to them. If your garden is large enough, try to have some part of the pond not immediately visible from the house, as this encourages the adventure of search and exploration of the grounds to reveal the whole picture.
