Walling Materials

Genarally walling which will be seen ("facing work") is more expensive than hidden materials. Often walls ahve a backing of inexpensive bricks or blocks with a facing of high-quality bricks or stonework. Natural materials should be used wherever possible. Stone generally ages better than pre-moulded materials although these are  often less expensive and easier to work with. If you are in doubt, a builder's merchant will advise you.

Concrete blocks arre generally weather-proof; however, some bricks are not resistant to water and frost and will fail if used in pond or exterior construction.
